This role will be primarily responsible for providing engineering input in support of New Product Design and order processing functions. Primary duty requires knowledge of an advance type in a field of learning customarily acquired by a prolonged course of specialized instruction and study and performs work which is original and creative in character, requiring invention, imagination, and talent. Performs work which is predominately intellectual and varied and is of a character that the output or results cannot be standardized in terms of time. Work requires consistent exercise of discretion and judgment in its performance.
Roles/Responsibilities:
- Develops and designs electrical controls for use in auxiliary industrial machinery and material handling systems
- Designs, documents, programs, or contracts programming work for PLC circuits and systems
- Develops and maintains U.L. industrial control panel and flame control panel programs
- Troubleshoots, writes, and modifies control circuits on manufactured or testing machinery and systems
- Travels to customer’s sites when required to develop, startup, or troubleshoot electrical, systems, PLC and proprietary controls on UNA-DYN supplied machinery and systems
- Creates and reads logic and flow diagrams for program design, programming, simulation and testing, and start-up
- Performs all aspects of start-up and commissioning new control systems
- Develops bills of material/controls expenditures within limitations of project budget
- Creates and assembles final documentation
- Uses Computer Aided Design (CAD) technology and techniques to prepare or delegate the preparation of drawings from own layouts, rough sketches, or concepts
- Prepares bills of material (BOM) and other documentation in SAP
- Contacts suppliers to receive pricing and technical information for purchase on projects
- Meets with customers and our representatives in field for site review/pre-engineering evaluation
- Ensures all changes and modifications are appropriately documented and noted correctly
- Ensures customers have sufficient information i.e., drawings, manuals, documentation, to facilitate a successful installation and operation
- Interfaces closely with mechanical, systems, and electrical engineers, drafters, and designers to develop electrical schematics and detailing
- Works closely with manufacturing during control panel manufacture
- Attends meetings and seminars for updated job information and professional development training
- Supervises Electrical Engineers & Electrical Designers – allocating work as needed.
- Responsible for checking and validating Electrical Engineers and Electrical Designers designs and drawings where required.
- Ensures Electrical Engineers and Electrical Designers compliance with internal drafting standards.
- Responsible for reporting progress of all assigned tasks.
- Identify any personal or Electrical team training needs to the Director of Engineering and help locate suitable courses.
- Take the technical lead on specific projects and agree technical approach with the Director of Engineering.
- Is available for onsite customer support (presentations and fault finding as required).
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) degree and 3-5years of directly related experience in an Electrical Engineering role. Job-related-experience (JRE) can be substituted for education.
- Familiarity with automated industrial machine controls and PLC’s
- Creative design and problem-solving skills, troubleshooter skills, familiar with mechanisms, motors, heating, pumps, fans, and controls
