Thermal Care, a leading provider of industrial heat transfer solutions is a part of a larger corporation known as IPEG. In addition to Thermal Care, IPEG provides best in class manufacturing and business support services to its other brands which include Conair the leading producer of auxiliary equipment for plastics processing, Republic Machine a recognized expert for single-shaft shredding solutions and Pelletron a leading supplier of pneumatic conveying systems, dust removal systems and other related products.

Purpose

The Buyer provides purchasing, sourcing, commodity, and supply base management expertise to ensure that all aspects of the sourcing process meet Thermal Care’s quality, surety of supply, and cost to meet corporate procurement requirements. This position reports to the Purchasing Manager and is located in Niles, Illinois.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Procure inventory, supplies, and capital goods for production processes;
• Work with accounts payable and receiving team to resolve any invoice and/or shipment discrepancies; Participate in cross functional teams to develop strategies to source assigned commodity-based items at the lowest total cost of ownership;
• Participate in quarterly supplier scorecard process
• Solicit quotes for new and existing materials as needed
• Communicate and collaborate with planning, engineering, sales, production, on status of material critical for production process. Provide regular updates and/or reports to - management staff on cost improvements and new technologies or services;
• Follow up regularly with suppliers to ensure part availability, expediting as required;
• Analyze MRP and other data and propose/implement process improvements that reduce waste -;
