Pelletron, part of the IPEG Industrial Group, is the global leading supplier for dust removal systems for plastic processors and plastics manufacturers. Besides the plastics industry, the dedusting technology is also used in the food, mineral and recycling industries. In 2003, the company began to expand into the pneumatic conveying field and developed a new pressure conveying process, trade named pellcon3®. Pelletron has a wide range of pneumatic conveying components such as rotary valves, diverter valves and shut-off valves, specially designed for conveying of pellets and powders. The Pellbow®, a special pipe elbow, another Pelletron invention, is used in the plastics industry to prevent dust and streamers in the conveying process.
Role
The Quality Engineer is responsible for development, deployment, and continuous improvement of Pelletron’s Quality Policy. The Quality Engineer is active in cross-functional and preventative support of the design, manufacture, and post-sale performance of Pelletron’s products and is a key leader in creation of a “zero-defect” mentality and behavior. The Quality Engineer will lead Supplier Quality activities and be intimately involved in customer documentation activities. This position will report to the Process Engineering Manager of Pelletron located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Deploying continuous improvement activities;
- Initiate and drive projects to improve safety, quality, cost and delivery;
- Develop, master and communicate customs, procedures, protocol and policies of the Quality Assurance/Control and Manufacturing Departments;
- Document all transactions as designated;
- Provide process improvement recommendations and lead/be involved in implementation;
- Effectively work with a team and across all departments;
- Assist in defining quality standards, prepare inspection or test procedures, and determine examination points for internal and external (supplier, customer) use;
- Review and evaluate supplier and/or in-process rejections, obtain disposition and implement containment, corrective and preventative action;
- Assist in drawing control and review activities for new and revised engineering documentation;
- Review test data prior to shipment to ensure product performance is within specified standards;
- Interface with customers, suppliers, and various company departments to prevent and/or resolve quality issues;
- Apply SPC principles as appropriate to maximize reliability and inspection efficiencies;
- Perform supplier audits, evaluations, and supplier development training;
- Perform analysis of manufacturing performance and prepare detailed reports for management on quality metrics, trends, and improvement actions;
- Define, contain, and resolve warranty issues with customers:
- Read and understand forms, blueprints & schematics, including bills of material;
- Maintain the quality specifications and quality focus of the company;
- Work with minimal supervision and maximum self-motivation;
- Provide Environmental support to all areas of the Company and for regulatory compliance;
- Support managers with implementation of environmental compliance, programs and procedures;
- Maintain electronic and manual records;
- Comply with all applicable U.S. export control and security regulations.
