LYBRA, the evolution of dosing from Piovan

Blenders play a somewhat critical role in plastic processing in ensuring granules and additives are fed correctly to moulding machines and extruders.

Piovan, who have been manufacturing auxiliary equipment for the plastic processing industry since 1963, have a wide range of devices of this type. They are used both as individual gravimetric, volumetric or loss-in-weight blenders and as units comprising a number of dosing stations (up to 8) for the separate, distinct feeding of various materials, from virgin to recycled, masterbatch or additives.

Making its debut at K 2010 will be "Lybra", the new line of dosing units configured for continuous weight-loss gravimetric (LG) or volumetric (LV) operation, whose distinguishing features are a high level of accuracy, advanced control and a particularly straightforward user interface.

The unit can accommodate up to two independent dosing stations, which can even be of different capacities and be retrofitted to meet changing production needs. Each dosing station can be configured for individual capacities in the tens of g/h, up to 170 kg/h.

Each dosing station comprises a hopper containing the granules to be dosed and is equipped with a proprietary loss-in-weight control to measure the amount of material carried by the dosing screw to the unit's mixer. The mixture is then continuously transferred by gravity from the blender's mixer to the plasticizing screw of the moulding machine or extruder.

The dosing auger is available in three different configurations with single, dual or triple helical shaft for controlling material dosing in low percentages with a high level of accuracy and repeatability.

The unit comprises a microprocessor control system with 7 inch touch screen. A single screen, with intuitive graphical interfaces, allows the operator to control operation of the whole system, compare preset dosing values with actual values, check instantaneous production values and access all the unit's functions.

Connection to external supervision systems (by means of an Ethernet or USB port) means settings can be downloaded and exported, while it also provides the option of controlling the unit remotely.

Lastly, it's also worth noting that this dosing unit's operational versatility makes it particularly suitable wherever there is a need for frequent production batch changes, which thus entail promptly adapting the operating conditions of each loading station.

The 21st edition of the Fakuma trade show ended up with satisfaction. Piovan displayed the new product lines, all engineered with energy efficiency as the first target: the Easy3 conveying system, the DPA compressed air dryer, the HR desiccant wheel dryer and the MDW gravimetric blender. Also the Chiller line on display was representative of the energy saving range: the Digitemp thermorefrigerator and the CH480 portable chiller.

“12 patents in one year. Creating breakthrough innovation”. This was the main theme of the Piovan booth. The display of Piovan at the K2007 will encompass the complete range of equipment for PET Preform applications. All visitors will appreciate the results of the intense activity of research and development that was conducted by Piovan in the latest years.

The technological innovations present on all the equipment, that are part of a complete PET system, is driven by the basic aspects of the production process, like:
• energy utilisation
• infrastructures
• maintenance and spare parts
• process automation

Energy Utilisation
Piovan has developed a specific software that monitors and elaborates all process parameters of each of the auxiliary equipment and provides the values for the energy consumption in real time. In this sense, Piovan will have an on-line remote connection to the most recent PET installation that will be presented for the first time ever at the K 2007.
Such systems will give the possibility of appreciating in a concrete and direct manner the real benefits of the innovation of the PET systems of Piovan.
In brief, one PET system of the latest generation, composed of dryer, chiller, circulation pumps for the cooling water, resin feeding system and mould dehumidification unit, can guarantee energy utilisation optimisation as high as 50%, or more, if compared to the average consumption of the systems currently in operation in the field.

Infrastructures
The ultimate and innovative design, that combines compactness and high capacity, presents one neat advantage to overcome the very common limitations imposed by an ordinary PET solution, thus allowing the user to make use of conventional/standard infrastructures, eliminating the need for high head room and mezzanine floors, typical requisites of today’s preform production lines.

Maintenance and spare parts
The new components and the accurate selection of those contribute to the containment of the overall running costs of a PET system, cutting the activities of ordinary maintenance to almost zero. These are in fact limited to the cleaning of the filters only, as all components that on conventional equipment are wear and tear were eliminated.

Process automation
Production constancy is above all ensured with the new control. All new drying systems allow set-up and automatic memorisation of all operation parameters, such as: start-up, shut-down, hopper fill-up, material change, temperature and time for the drying process. All of this allows any operator to easily interact with the system preserving all process parameters.

Numerous are the patents recently filed by Piovan to safeguard all own technologies on the PET sector.

In Hall 1D, Stand 311, the display of Piovan consists of solutions developed at its Manufacturing Centre of Zhuhai.
The application fields represented are four: feeding, blending, drying and mould temperature controllers.
Feeding is represented by a vast variety of units such as glass receivers, material receivers and vacuum unit with floor-stand filters.
The individual or centralised controls are Easy² microprocessor based. Also, in this respect, the new central display with alpha-numerical messages, that gives constant monitoring of the operation status and warning/alarm conditions of a centralised resin feeding system, is exhibited.
In the field of blending Piovan introduces two new models for the dosing of masterbatch, the recovery of regrind and the blending with virgin material.
The MDP masterbatch doser is equipped with a transparent hopper bin to monitor the presence of colorant to be dosed. Dosing takes place by means of one inclined auger. The MDP is suitable for the management of very small quantities of masterbatch and for applications on small tonnage machines.
The MDP2 can be equipped with one or two stations. The configuration with two stations allows recovery of regrind, in which case the unit is furnished with the regrind management software.
Both MDP and MDP2 can be dismantled and cleaned without the need of any tools.
Four new models are added to the basic line of drying systems produced at the Piovan Zhuhai Manufacturing Centre.
DP30/2Z, DP50/2Z, DP100/2Z and DP200/2Z integrate the already existing DP50Z, DP100Z and DP150/2Z. All these models can be equipped with drying hoppers having volumes from 30 through to 300 l.
For the fields of optical moulding (lenses and compact discs), medical and pharmaceutical, two new models of drying systems were developed: CDP50/2Z and CDP150/2Z.
The range of the new line of desiccant dryers is considerably vast and covers applications with all hygroscopic resins to be dried at temperatures up to 150°C and dew point of
– 45°C.
All DP and CDP dryers are equipped with resin feeding system for the drying hopper and hot/dry resin conveying system to the processing machines. One DP or CDP unit can support up to 4 processing machines simultaneously.
The field of drying was further exploited by Piovan Zhuhai with the development of a new multiple hopper drying system, comprising one single drying unit and three drying hopper having different volumes (100, 150 and 200 litres) each with independent temperature control.
The very wide offer of Piovan in mould temperature control is represented by a basic line of water, oil and pressurised units, completed with one new line having microprocessor based control. All units have heating capacities of 3, 6, 9 and 12 kW.
The pressurised models were designed to cover applications for high temperatures up to 160°C.

New Piovan recovery system for Optical Disc applications

Piovan, constantly in line with the philosophy of energy cost containment and optimisation of production processes, launches in the market a new centralised recovery system to recycle blank discs, sprues and non-metallized discs in PC.

The recycled material assures to the utilizer a considerable rationalisation of the use of raw material, with consequent and immediate positive effects on profits.

The system consists of one set of conveyor belts for reject collection and feeding, one granulator model RS26/35, one blower/cyclone conveying system, one dedusting system and one metal separator unit.

The conveyor belts to collect and feed the rejects to the granulator are supplied in special execution. The belts are produced out of a special material, namely Hytrel, that is fully compatible with Polycarbonate, assuring absence of contamination for the rejects to be recycled.

The conveyor belt assembly is also equipped with a device that adjusts the flow of rejects to be ground, so to guarantee an appropriate and constant feed to the granulator, allowing optimal operation conditions of the latter.
The RS26/35 granulator is furnished with stainless steel in feed hopper and a system of air circulation to maintain positive pressure in the hopper itself to avoid contamination from external agents.
Cutting chamber and regrind collection box are made of stainless steel as well as all parts in contact with the regrind itself, so to prevent vital parts of the granulator from corrosion.

Production of high quality regrind is also secured by the automatic cleaning system for the lateral rotating discs of the cutting chamber, cleaning system that operates pneumatically.
Simplicity of use and maintenance operations coupled with extremely low energy utilisation are the main advantages offered by the RS26/35.

In order not to pick up regrind excessively heated by the action of cut in the cutting chamber, one blower/cyclone assembly, entirely made of stainless steel, is installed on board of the granulator itself. This keeps the cutting chamber at a low and safe temperature and provides conveying of regrind to the dedusting system.
The dedusting system was designed to specifically remove powder out of regrind from optical discs. It consists of one stainless steel powder separation chamber and one set of static charge neutralisers. Furthermore the separation screen is made out of stainless steel and finished with laser cut technology.
The regrind is fed by gravity to a stainless steel collection bin through one separator unit for ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

The very high degree of optimisation of the production processes confer the new recovery system of Piovan the possibility of providing average pay-back times contained within three months of use.

Piovan started its activity in the Indian market in the 90’s and in particular in the optical disc sector, where the Company stands out for the collaboration with important customers, worldwide leaders in this specific application field.

To better serve the local Indian market, confirming the aim of a more and more direct presence of Piovan in the global plastics industry, the Company established actually in Mumbai a new branch, Piovan India, since year 2005.
The structure is characterised by dedicated commercial, technical and after sales presence. For the new subsidiary, Piovan have appointed Mr. Sachin Patil as Business and Sales Manager along with local service personnel allowing close contact with all customers.
In the same location Piovan India carries a stock of spare parts assuring prompt deliveries at any time.

Piovan produces and offers the entire range of auxiliary equipment for optical disc application: hopper loaders, dehumidifying systems, dosing units, granulators, temperature controllers and refrigerators.
Many are the innovations that Piovan introduces in the optical disc auxiliaries market.
In the drying field, the new user-friendly CDP dryers allow simplicity of installation, quick understanding of operation and ease of maintenance.
Newly designed solutions have been adopted for the development of the CDP dryers:

Another innovation of Piovan in the optical disc field is represented by the new RN166 granulator. In addition to the original characteristics of the former model of the RN166, which the main ones were:

 two adjustable fixed knives
the new RN 166 granulator for optical disc applications benefits of various innovations. These are represented by innovative solutions of design developed to further fulfil the demand of precision and reliability of operation.
The new powder separation chamber that is installed at the sprue intake block of the granulator, eliminates all those implications that dusty sprues present in conventional systems.
The access to the cutting chamber in this new model is facilitated and can be performed by the simple detachment of two safety bolts.
The granulation screen was redesigned and sits now on a support cradle that gives it improved stability and durability.
The filtering and powder collection system is located on a side of the RN 166. Filter box and cartridge can be quickly removed and replaced, or cleaned at a remote position, so not to generate any pollution and thus contamination.
The improvement of the new design represent benefits that find concreteness in the following points:
 reduction of frequency of ordinary maintenance
 reduction of production line down-time
 reduction of maintenance/service labour.
All of these lead to optimization of operation and efficiency of production.

MDW 2500 - Gravimetric blenders for large and utmost constant capacities

The Piovan MDW Series of batch gravimetric blenders is ideally suited for application on injection moulding machines, blow moulding machines and extruders.
Slide gates, high precision augers and micro-cell devices ensure that the various components are dosed in the set percentage.
For the extrusion field Piovan has recently developed the MDW gravimetric blenders for large capacities, namely MDW 2500. These are suitable for extrusion of sheets and subsequent in line thermoforming for the food industry and for strap extrusion.
The MDW 2500 line have production capacities of up to 2500 kg/h. Different configurations are available in accordance with the user needs.
The MDW 2500 are provided of 3 or 4 pneumatic slide gates, auger stations and large discharge stations for the dosing of low bulk density material, like flakes and regrind of diverse granulometry.
The weighing pan has a volume of 40 litres and the mixer contains up to 100 litres of blended ingredients.
Because of their weight and dimensions, these gravimetric blenders are generally installed on mezzanine floors.
Special solutions/executions, like HT versions for hot materials with bridge-brake devices were also developed.
The dosing hopper and the mixing chamber are made of stainless steel and all surfaces are polished to obtain smoothness. This is requested for the handling of all those materials that tend not to free flow, like hot materials, regrind ones and those with static charges.
The MDW 2500 of Piovan, developed for materials with very variable bulk densities, guarantee high precision blending and constant output.

Piovan has completed the development of the new line of large drying systems. These are suitable for configuration with single or multiple hopper assemblies and have capacities ranging from 400 to 2500 kg/h.

The new dryers include 11 models in all, from DP 625 through to DP 638 and generate air-flows from 1200 to 4500 m³/h.

Many are the benefits offered by the new technologies developed for this new line of drying systems, of which the most significant is the best efficiency of operation coupled with the lowest utilisation of energy (<70W/kg/h).
Along with these, the extremely high integration of equipment controls make this new line very competitive and user-friendly.
Some of the main innovative features are:

the absence of cooling water for both process and regeneration circuits, representing very high savings from the perspectives of a heat load to the cooling systems reduced to zero and no investment costs for cooling water piping and respective engineering and installation
the RHR (regeneration heat recovery), allowing recovery of 100% of the energy utilised for the regeneration process, that in conventional drying systems represents more than 30% of the energy consumed
the integration of the resin conveying systems in the dryer cabinet, that confers the complete system compactness, ease of installation and very competitive price.

Profit boosting and absolute precision of dosing, winning match of the new MDP300 blender

Absolute innovation is expressed with the MDP300, the dosing unit that combines the gravimetric-like principle of material dosing and the volumetric method of functioning.

Every component, virgin material, regrind, masterbatch and additive is dosed by means of pneumatic slide gates that allow to dose large quantities of material for production capacities of up to 300 kg/h.
The operating time of the slide gates is inferior of 300 milliseconds to assure constant and uniform material descent avoiding any sort of jamming. In this way the repeatability of the quantities to be dosed is guaranteed.
Moreover, the compressed air required for the slide gates functioning allows to obtain considerable savings in energy utilisation.

The MDP300 is suited for installation directly onto the throat of injection or blow moulding machines as well as extruders, or floor-mounted.

In particular, the MDP300 finds application in the injection moulding field from 30 to 200 kg/h, in the blow moulding field up to 250 kg/h and in the extrusion field up to 300kg/h.
This new volumetric dosing unit is available in configurations up to four dosing stations. It is ideal to dose and manage regrind in variable percentages thanks to a bigger hopper and a larger slide gate.
The homogenous mixing of the different components is ensured by the dynamic mixer provided of conical chamber avoiding material stagnation.

Quick material discharge ports on the hoppers along with easy access to the internal parts of the machine allow rapid maintenance and cleaning operations for material changes.

Excellence is featured by the innovative electronic control that can be used on more than one doser. It is possible to set the required percentage of masterbatch or of additives time after time or by simply recalling one of the stored-in formulas and input the code of the product to be moulded. The most distinctive new function available on the MDP300 is the Regrind Management, which keeps the right proportion of the components and ensures constant and optimal blend quality independently from the quantity of regrind available.

The new operator interface provides alphanumerical messages and the programming procedure for the determination of recipes is self-guided.

Extrusion: Innovative technology and global competences in the new line of Piovan gravimetric blenders

Piovan enters the extrusion market with a state of the art technology: the new MXP gravimetric blenders line.

The MXP combines a gravimetric batch preparation with a subsequent loss-in-weight function.

Designed for application on extrusion lines, the MXP dosers are perfectly suited for the production of blown films, pipes and profiles.

Three are the models for the MXP range: MXP200, MXP300 and MXP500.

The MXP200 and MXP300 models are equipped with four dosing stations of which two can have auger dosing facilities for the smaller percentages.

The MXP500 is equipped with six dosing stations, four of which are furnished with pneumatic slide gate and two with metering auger. The auger stations can be added at any later stage.

Savings and reduction of production costs

The objective of the ambitious project of Piovan is to obtain high accuracy and repeatability of the gravimetric batch preparation. This is possible by coupling the dosing of a wide variety of granule sizes and bulk densities with a perfect mixing action that homogenises the blend to be fed into the extruder. The various components are dosed by means of pneumatic slide gates and servo driven augers, whereas the blend is mixed in a chamber installed on load cells that monitor the consumption of the extruder.

For the dosage of low percentage materials, the auger stations guarantee absolute precision. The consequent optimisation of the material consumption will refeclet into exceptional reduction of the production costs.

Flexibility

One of the major advantages offered the MXP is flexibility.

Piovan puts in the market a unit furnished with standard functions/options to fit each and every user needs and type of material to be dosed. This eliminates the needs for special applications requiring long delivery times. Moreover, the MXP blenders are designed to be expanded, in fact it is possible to add one auger station at any time, avoiding big investmenrs for new machines and optimising the production capacity with evident reduced costs.

The control of the loss-in-weight function allows quick response to process parameters variations.

The application of the MXP blenders on coextrusion lines is facilitated by the possibility of changing the recipe "on the fly" and consequent rapid self-adjustment of the working parameters.

Control

One single control box is installed on board of the MXP blenders. This is equipped with an extremely powerful micro processor control that manages each and any and every function of the blender, collects field inputs and provides feed back data. The main functions of the MXP control are:

The control boasts the ultimate technology in terms of operator interface. One 8.4-inch colour touch screen guarantees excellent graphic visualisation of the dosing unit, the extrusion line, the material consumption data and the alarm/warning messages. One interface panel can visualise and allow operator interaction to five MXP units and five extrusion machines.

The MXP control includes the possibility to generate individual diagrams monitoring the consumption of each blender and Cartesian diagrams for the thickness distribution (this last one for blown films appliocation).

The MXP is the perfect innovative solution for gravimetric blending and loss-in-weight process control that Piovan launched in the extrusion field.

Integration and production management

The MXP blenders can be integrated with other machines of the Piovan range, like for example the SVS supervising software and the Easy² conveying system.

The management of the production processes, the monitoring of the production lots and the definition of the orders progress are essential functions of the SVS system, giving high added value to the Piovan offer. This kind of supervision system gives several advantages. From one single station the operator can monitor the entirely of a system, even of big dimensions, enter all data and set up the functioning parameters of each element.

Different control stations can be positioned in the production site and in the offices.

Moreover, it is possible to elaborate all the collected records for the qualty control of the finished product, to check the single different processes and share all of that with an existing management software.

The Easy²System is an innovative control for the management of centralised feeding systems. Its logic has been specifically developed to integrate all functions of every element of a conveying system. From one Easy²System keyboard, it is possible to manage systems of various dimensions, controlling various elements up to a maximum of: 8 silos (in- or out-door) or drying hoppers, 4 automatic material distribution stations, 1 manual distribution station, 4 deviating valves, 47 material receivers and 8 vacuum conveying systems, depending on plant requirements.

The keyboard represents the Easy²System operative core: it receives information from the elements in the plant, all interconnected via a serial line, and it gives them operative instructions. Piovan Easy²System functioning logic is of the so-called "master-slave" kind: each component included in the system is equipped with a microprocessor that, besides managing all local functions of the machine, communicates with the keyboard, that collects all information. The main features of this system are ease and speed in communication; these features go hand in hand with the operator’s interface, that is extremely simple and user-friendly.

The Easy²System can manage installations of various dimensions and types thanks to its high level of flexibility and distributed control. The system can easely be expanded as per the gradual needs of a growing production enviroment.

With a turnover around 1,3 billion Euro, Peguform ranks amongst the most important independent manufacturer suppliers in the automotive sector in Europe. Its production is vast; it includes components for interiors and exteriors of various car models. Selected as exclusive supplier of ancillaries, Piovan shares with the customer a marked orientation to technological innovation.

Piovan centralised systems ensure an advanced and versatile production process to Peguform. After the first project realised in Neustadt, other systems for 4 plants followed, always present in Germany. The realisation of the Bavarian site was a positive experience; in that occasion Piovan showed above all the capability of managing the energy demand at the best and to realise customised solutions.

The Neustadt plant is characterised by a strong equilibrium between space rationalisation simplified management and consumption optimisation.
The material treatment and distribution area is an example of this. All the operations for material preparation are carried out in a reduced surface; the zone includes the drying groups on the mezzanine and distribution stations underneath. Moreover, 5 km of stainless steel pipes link all the auxiliaries in an ordered way, from the storage silos to the granule receivers placed onto the dosers.
The conveying system talks the Easy2System language, the logic “by Piovan”, easy to understand and to use. From a single keypad, the operator interacts with the system in real time. The solution chosen for Peguform includes also large dimension displays, where messages of the feeding system run, while the silos are equipped with a special software system that automatically reorders the polymers going short.
The most evident advantage is the one of the optimised consumption of the drying groups. They are not special machines; in fact, in their standard configuration the Piovan dryers include some exclusive devices that reduce the energy expense and any waste, and which ensure at the same time optimal material treatment. The savings are particularly interesting in a system of this type, which includes drying hoppers with a total volume of 12,000 litres and with an airflow of 4800 m3/h.

Piovan supplied also the dosing solution, and opted for gravimetric units, which have been installed directly onto the IMM. The machine vibrations do not affect in any way the dosing precision, and the production is always in line with the required parameters also for the reduced percentages of additives.

Choosing Piovan as a partner also for the subsequent investments, Peguform has solved all the criticalities linked to the injection moulding process for the automotive and gained high energy efficiency.

The highlights of Piovan at this Show are represented by the blenders, in particular by the new volumetric dosing units MDP300 and MDP2.
Absolute innovation is expressed with the MDP300, the dosing unit that combines the gravimetric-like principle of material dosing along with the volumetric method of functioning. Every component, virgin material, regrind, masterbatch and additive is dosed by means of pneumatic slide gates that allow to dose large quantities of material for production capacities of up to 300 kg/h. A very efficient and overall effective solution from every perspective, ranging from accuracy of dosage and capital equipment expenditure. In particular, the MDP300 finds application in the injection moulding field from 30 to 200 kg/h, in the blow moulding field up to 250 kg/h and in the extrusion field up to 300kg/h.
The MDP300 is suited for installation directly onto the throat of injection or blow moulding machines as well as extruders and is available in configurations up to four dosing stations. It is ideal to dose and manage regrind in variable percentages thanks to a bigger hopper and a larger slide gate and provides precision and accurate control.
The homogenous mixing of the different components is ensured by the dynamic mixer provided of conical chamber avoiding material stagnation.
Quick material discharge ports on the hoppers along with easy access to the internal parts of the machine allow rapid maintenance and cleaning operations for material changes.
To fulfil demands of lower capacity but still high precision and flexibility in injection, blow moulding and extrusion the MDP2 volumetric dosing unit was developed. Masterbatch, additive or regrind metering take place by means of inclined augers, a solution that ensures unmatchable accuracy.
The MDP2, with two metering stations and one central gravity fed material station, covers applications where three components are to be blended. The stations have capacities up to 120 kg/h each and are detachable from the main body for ease of use and maintenance. This latter feature allows simple and rapid adjustment in case of significant increase or decrease of material demand. No tools are to be used to perform such operations.
The new brush-less motor drives confer the MDP2 high precision and reliability.
Excellence is featured by the innovative electronic control of both the MDP300 and the MDP2, that can be used on more than one doser. It is possible to set the required percentage of masterbatch or of additives time after time or by simply recalling one of the stored-in formulas and input the code of the product to be moulded. The most distinctive new function available on both MDP300 and MDP2 is the Regrind Management, which keeps the right proportion of the components and ensures constant and optimal blend quality independently from the quantity of regrind available.
The new operator interface provides alphanumerical messages and the programming procedure for the determination of recipes is self-guided.

Other important innovations will be introduced in the dehumidifying field with the two versions of drying systems on trolley. In fact, two mobile solutions have been made available, L and S, with different features depending on installation typology and customer’s needs. Equipped with two or three drying hoppers, the drying modules of the L type stand out for exceptional ease of use. The operator simply needs to set the drying temperature. The central control, installed on the dryer, manages dryer functions, heating chambers of each drying hopper and a number of other facilities centrally. The S type on-trolley drying systems are designed to offer the advantage of a modular, multiple hopper solution that can be enhanced with many automated features and provides the highest level of flexibility for a vast range of applications and an unmatchable efficiency of operation.

The Piovan expertise in the refrigeration field is represented by the Cooling Centre, the Refrigeration Division dedicated to the design of the most ambitious system solutions.
With the CH Series, Piovan is present in the market with the objective to offer a product disegned and manufactured on the basis of more than 40years of field experience.
A wide range of models, suitable for single or centralized applications, indoor or outdoor installations and aircondensed or watercondensed, covers all specific requirements of the customer.
The cooling capacities range between 6 e 600 kW.
The Piovan chillers are ideal for cooling moulds, metallizer, mastering units, dryers and temperature controllers.
The “portable chillers” series covers models from the CH 50 to the CH 900.
Recently the Piovan Cooling Centre team has developed a new chiller, the CH 1100. This model, which has a cooling capacity of 140 kW, has been designed for two specific purposes. The first: to further widen the range of chillers with high quality and reliable intermediate models, so to better satisfy the different cooling requirements at the level of the department or plant. The second: to offer high performance with compact machines equipped with a wide range of options. Among those specifically designed for the optical disc sector, we can mention the non-ferrous water circuit, the double internal water pump (stand-by), the version for two temperatures of the chilled water, the centrifugal fans and the thermostatic valve with electronic control. Thanks to this latter device, it is possible to obtain energy savings of about 10% in terms of kWh/year consumed. For instance, the adoption of this solution in a CH 1100 chiller installed in a plant in northern Italy with a 24-hour continuous production cycle using chilled water at 15°C ensures savings higher than 20.000 kWh per year.

The latest evolution of control

The latest evolution of controls for the resin feeding systems of Piovan is represented by two solutions, the brand new PLC control and the very reknown Easy2System.

The new PLC control for central resin feeding systems becomes parts of the standard range of solutions offered by Piovan. The PLC programmable software allows applications above all when the feeding system must handle a vast selection of materials and a wide variation of colours in disparate storage and distribution conditions for injection, blow-moulding and extrusion sectors.
One tangible advantage is the prompt availability of PLC controls, that will contribute in a reduction of the delivery time for the systems.
The central PLC control is equipped with one 7,7” colour touch screen operator interface that gives access, monitor and management of: 93 vacuum receivers, 8 distinct feeding systems, 16 silos, coupling stations and remote central display.
The following functions are also included in the standard solution package:
- Simultaneous management of two or more feeding systems connected to one single manual coupling station
- Automatic switch over to the vacuum unit on stand-by

Aiming to ensure a proper and personal support directly to all customers in South America, Piovan do Brasil joined the Argenplas Exhibition, March 20 to 24, in Buenos Aires, into a 33.000sqm area, La Rural Exhibition Centre, with 320 exhibitors and estimated 25.000 visitors.
In a 50sqm booth, inside the yellow pavillion, so called because of its brazilian colours, an interesting range of ancillary equipment were displayed: the new RSPB 20/30 granulator, hopper loaders series S and F, volumetric dosing unit MDT 15, temperature controller TW-9 and CH 180 chiller. All machines manufactured in Brasil, at the Osasco plant.
A deep support came from Sollwert, the Piovan sales representative in Argentina, responsible for the commercial contact and technical assistance in this region.
The Piovan booth welcomed 150 businessmen from several Countries of South America, such as Argentina (80%), Brasil, Chile, Peru, Uruguay and Colombia.

Moving with the market

The widening of the chiller range

At Plast the new chiller CH 1100, recently developed by our experts with the more powerful CH 1400, will make its debut. These two models, which have a cooling capacity of 140 and 170 kW respectively, have been designed for two specific purposes.

The first: to further widen the range of chillers with high quality and reliable intermediate models to better satisfy the different cooling requirements at the level of the department or plant.

The second: to offer high performance with compact machines equipped with a wide range of options.

Among those specifically designed for the plastics material processing, we can mention the no-ferrous water circuit, the double internal water pump (stand-by), the version for two temperatures of the chilled water, the centrifugal fans and the thermostatic valve with electronic control. Thanks to the latter device, it is possible to obtain energy savings of about 10% in terms of kWh/year consumed. For instance, the adoption of this solution in a CH 1100 chiller installed in a plant in northern Italy with a 24-hour continuous production cycle using chilled water at 15°C ensures savings higher than 20.000 kWh per year.

The evolution of the Piovan range does not stop here. In addition to the two new models, other chillers will soon be available with the same design criteria

Creating customised solutions, capable of responding to specific production needs and guaranteeing optimum process management. But above all helping the customer to enter the core of drying treatment and make the use of dryers simple and user-friendly. With these important goals, the DP 604 – 615 range of Piovan dryers has been renewed and will be available in all versions starting in March.

The DP 604- 615 drying units, ideal for medium production, produce from 50 to 150 m3/h of dehumidified air, with a dew point value of –45°C. The maximum application flexibility is just one of the most evident advantages of the new range. The configurations of the dryer include four different versions: independent air generator, single hopper drying unit and two mobile solutions, L and S with different features depending on the installation typology and the customer’s needs.

Available with two or three drying hoppers, the drying modules of the L type stand out for high ease of use; in fact, the operator simply needs to set the drying temperature. The unified control, installed directly on the dryer, makes it possible to manage the dryer, the heating chambers of each drying hopper and a number of other functions centrally.

The S on-trolley drying systems are designed to offer the advantage of a modular, multiple hopper solution that can be enhanced with many automated features. In the standard version, these models can include as many as 8 drying hoppers, each equipped with a separate heating chamber and dedicated electronic control. In this configuration, the dryers have as a standard feature a number of important energy saving devices: Intelligent Energy Supervisor (IES) and Intelligent Material Drying (IMD). These systems self-adjust the drying parameters to the real machine throughput, and consequently optimise energy consumption: the granule receives only the quantity of heat necessary, with no waste. The latest generation of microprocessor electronics of the dryer can manage the feeding system that loads the granules into the eight drying hoppers, which the mobile unit can include.

Temperature controllers for extrusion processes

In order to fulfil the specific demands of the production processes of sheets, profiles, tapes and films, the Piovan team developed the THG special temperature controllers. These temperature control units have been designed to keep calenders, calibration systems, take-off rolls and cooling baths at constant temperature. Only by maintaining these devices at constant temperature, is it possible to ensure uniform material shrinkage, respect of mechanical and resistance characteristics and high quality of the product. These aspects are all particularly important in the extrusion field, where production capacities are always considerable. Piovan temperature controllers for extrusion are carefully designed to ensure high heat exchange, with heating capacity up to 80 kW. The flow of the diathermic fluid – water or oil – between the temperature control unit and the circuit is carried out by means of powerful pumps with high flow and high pressure. All the models ensure exceptional performances both in terms of thermoregulation speed and precision. This is confirmed by field results, in the most various production contexts.

A particularly interesting case is represented by the application of these Piovan models to control temperatures of calibration systems in the production of alveolar polycarbonate sheets, widely used in the architectural and lightening field, and in various outdoor applications. It is a very delicate process both for the physical and mechanical features of this material as well as for the very reduced thickness of the alveolar grid. In strict co-operation with the customer, Piovan has developed customised units, able to ensure rapid temperature stabilisation of the calibration system at the start-up and constantly efficient heat transmission. All this has translated into a substantial increase in production capacity, always at maximum qualitative levels.

Among the most significant applications we can also mention the installation of modular groups of oil temperature controllers in combination with take-off rolls at variable speed and cooling baths, for extrusion lines of straps. Also this typology of plant requires specific know-how and high skill to ensure the respect of the mechanical and strength properties of this product. In fact, for the treatment of multiple lines of straps at the same time and the take-off phase at subsequent steps, extremely precise temperature control and constantly efficient thermoregulation process are necessary, with very low thermal differences between inlet and outlet. For this specific application, Piovan temperature controllers are equipped with high heating capacity in order to guarantee rapid heating up of the rolls at the start-up and correct temperature control in the subsequent working phases.

Another typical application concerns the thermoregulation of barrels in the processes of PET sheet thermoforming. Here high flows are normally required to keep the temperature of barrels as uniform as possible and thus assure homogeneous sheet shrinkage without tension.

A peculiar feature of Piovan temperature control units is represented by their full compatibility with supervisory control systems such as the SVS SuperVising System, which allows to set all production parameters and to control the system from a remote control standard PC operating in Windows.

Piovan Zhuhai: professionalism and dedication to China

With an important project, began in early 2004, Piovan has set up its third production pole.

After the historic Italian facilities located in Santa Maria di Sala, near Venice, in year 2000 Piovan opened the Osasco plant in San Paulo, Brazil, reaching the ambitious target of serving all the South American market with a local production. The same strategy was adopted four years later to set the basis for a strong presence in China, the fastest growing market in the world. In a plant of 6,000 sqm Piovan established its newest production site, namely Piovan China Manufacturing Centre. For this plant Piovan choose the industrial centre of Zhuhai, situated on the coast of Guangdong, between Hong Kong and Macau, in close proximity to the industrial and manufacturing giants of Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Its position, strategic for trade across all the Chinese provinces, has been chosen with the objective of becoming the main reference point for plastic material transformers in the entire Chinese market.
The project has been effectively carried on by a “cross country” team which comprises people from Italy, China, Hong Kong and Singapore. The much awaited challenge begins with the factory set-up. Every single component have to be sourced from scratch, looked into details and co-ordinated with the selected suppliers. From the design of the factory structure to the finalisation works, including office area, canteen, technical aspects of the utilities requirements, layout and other aspects of the production floor, warehousing system and other minor details, everything was completed by Jan 05.
Stephanie Wong - Piovan Asia, assigned for the factory set-up, narrates: “Today, we are proud to announce Piovan Zhuhai is ready to meet the demands of the Asia Pacific market, using technology, skills and knowledge of our Group. We strive to produce without compromising on prestige and quality, with a strong aim to consolidate our presence in Asia”. Within June of this year “Made in China” will appear on the lines of conveying equipment and mould temperature controllers built in Zhuhai and destined to the Asian market; Piovan’s Made in China range of equipment is set to rapidly expand over the course of time, to anticipate the inevitable rise in the technological level and demand from the already thriving local plastics industry.

Ukrainian Uniplast spotlights Piovan

Case History

Once more Uniplast, the Ukrainian giant in PET containers supply, confirms its loyalty to Piovan for the new expansion of their production capacity.
Uniplast started their operations in 1997 with one Pet preform production line and since through a rapid expansion became the largest supplier of PET preforms for application in the food and beverage sector in Ukrain and one of the leaders in the Central-East European countries.
Starting from this year Piovan supplied equipment to support six new Pet preform production lines. All of them have been delivered, installed and put in operation last March 2005.
The supply of Piovan consists in six complete Pet drying systems equipped with the new DP 629 dryer with T7500 hopper, six RPA mould dryers and six preform soft drop systems.
Along with these, one central chilled water system has also been supplied. Three CH 4100 air cooled chiller units, combined with two cooling towers having capacity of 600 kW each, characterize the chilled water system.
The main features of the new DP629 dryer for PET material are represented by the new PLC control that provides automatic process parameters adjustment in accordance to the necessities of the preform moulding line. One touch-screen operator interface panel offers easy access, simple management and complete monitoring of all the operation parameters of the drying systems.
The six new drying systems that have been supplied to Uniplast represent the most advanced technology in PET drying today available in the industry, that utilize the lowest quantity of energy for the highest level of performance ever achieved.
These systems find application in very stringent operation conditions. The initial moisture of the PET resin used by Uniplast is at a level of 4000 ppm, however the residual moisture and the processing conditions at the injection moulding machines are guaranteed to deliver constant and impeccable production.
This latest addition of six PET production lines to an existing installed number of 16 PET lines, allows Uniplast to supply an annual volume of preforms as high as four billion units.
Uniplast have at the same time expanded their closure production capacity. Two more closure systems have been installed and put in operation in May 2005. Piovan have been supplied two RPA mould dryers, two MDT11 masterbatch dosers, two feeding systems and two conveyor belts.
Four billion closures is the target volume of production for Uniplast, with these two new closure systems added to the already existing six.
Such significative figures are a privilege for Piovan that honours its cooperation with Uniplast as a strategic supplier in all current and future projects.

A gateway to the Chinese Market

Piovan wins in South America: great performance for the 10th Brasilplast!

One of the most important sectorial trade fairs in the world, Brasilplast presented to the Brazilian and Latin American markets the most modern Brazilian and international technologies available.
Great success for the 10th Brasilplast, that surpassed the mark of 60.000 visitors. Distributed in a 76.000 square meters, the fair congregated 1,254 expositors, which included Piovan, with a 200m2 booth, the biggest among the peripherical manufacturers.
Piovan´s booth caught attention from customers because of the illumination brightness, accurate organization with a very comfortable contact area and a well organized show room.
During the exhibition, Piovan Brazil generated sales figures twice bigger than the ones in Budget, considering the 30 days immediately after the fair, assuring the leadership in the South American market. ``We continue at high speed to be able to fulfil customers´ requests resulted from the strong visitation!´´ said Ricardo Prado PdB´s Vice-President.
Among the equipments presented were: Feeding Systems, chillers, dehumidifying dryers, volumetric dosers, all made in Piovan plant in Osasco, Brazil, as well as the Petes AA Analyser, MXP gravimetric dosers, the new DP 620 and the granulators from the Italian plant.

Easy Fair. A new event, a new contact with Sweden and Denmark.

Piovan participated through its Sweden distributor Materialdepån to the new exhibition "Easy fair" (18th & 19th May), located in Malmö, Sweden. The total number of visitors reached 2017 (25% more than expectations) coming from the plastic industry both in Sweden and Denmark, now closely connected by the new bridge. The exhibitors were approximately 130. "In Materialdepån we were very satisfied as our booth has been one of the most visited!" comments Dan Albertsson, Materialdepån.
This event represented the occasion to show to the customers two of the Piovan products that better fit to this market: the TW9 thermoregulators and Easy2, the control and management system for centralised feeding and conveying plants.

Piovan affirms once more its position amongst the most important international players in the plastics industry with its participation at the Expoplasticos Show of Monterrey (08 – 10 June, Booth 804 ).
In respect to its strategy in the world, Piovan aims at establishing more and more presence and close contact with the local markets. The event of Monterrey represents one further opportunity for Piovan to confirm its presence in the Central American market, with its Branch Piovan Mexico, located in Mexico City, established and launched in the market one year ago.

Piovan to set up UK operation

The global strategy of close contact to the customer is represented by the opening of a new branch, Piovan UK.

In respect to its strategy in the world, the Piovan aim to have more and more close contact with the Customer is realised by establishing a new structure characterised by dedicated commercial, technical and after sales presence.
For the new subsidiary, Piovan have appointed Mr. Nick Fox as General Manager. Mr. Fox joins Piovan with experience in the plastics industry going back over 25 years. Took part of the Piovan UK team Mr.John Sinar, as Service Engineer, and Steve Hine as Area Sales Manager for the Midlands, both with a strong experience in the market.
The distribution in the Irish market is managed by JL Goor, who have represented PL Plastics Machinery and Piovan in the past and will continue to be the distributor for Piovan UK.
On a 600mtr2 surface, the new Piovan UK warehouse/offices will be situated in Redditch.

Hungaroplast 2005 - Budapest

Piovan affirms once more its position amongst the most important international players in the plastics industry at the Hungaroplast Exhibition (19 – 22 April) in hall 24 - 202/B at Chemexpo - Budapest.
The event is the best opportunity to introduce and launch the new subsidiary of Piovan, located in Vienna, namely Piovan Central Europe. In the heart of the old continent the new branch of Piovan, that was established in January 2005, will cover four distinct markets: Austria, Czech, Slovakia and Hungary.

The structure of Piovan Central Europe will be characterised by specific commercial and after sales presence in the four countries of interest, and the involvement of local personnel will allow close contact with all potential customers that expect integration in their cultures, costumes, languages and dialects. All of this in respect to the strategy of Piovan in the world.

The Hungaroplast show is also occasion for Piovan to launch into the Hungarian market its latest innovations and technical developments. The display will focus on the following equipment:

The MDP is the new doser for masterbatch that carries all the characteristics and covers all the needs for the most demanding applications. Entirely made of stainless steel and with a built-in microprocessor control, the MDP represents the most advanced solution for highly technological processing sectors.

State of the art in drying technology is featured by the DP615 desiccant dryer. Low dew point, management of energy utilisation, advanced regeneration control and alphanumerical operator interface screen are some of the main characteristics of this innovative unit. Coupled with drying hoppers entirely made of stainless steel and totally insulated, T200, T100 and T50, the DP615 is the unmatchable choice for precise and reliable drying.

For applications beside-the-press the RPS15/23 represents the top of the line of small low-speed granulators. The scissors-like cutting action of the rotor with multiple and staggered knives, ensures a regrind of very high quality with low content of powder and uniform granulometry.

With a 200sqm booth (I70 / J71), Piovan is now exhibiting at Brasilplast (Anhembi Park – São Paulo - Brazil), from 4th to 8th April.

Always oriented to offer the best solution to its customers, Piovan will present at his stand, several new products: the new versions of dosers, dehumidifying dryers, granulators and temperature controller will be displayed at side of the Windosing and Winfeeding softwares.
The “cooling corner” will host the new versions of coolers (from 5,000 to 48,000 kcal/h) made in Brazil and exported for South America.

Piovan widens ranges of action and equipment

In respect to its strategy in the world, Piovan aims at establishing more and more presence and close contact with the English market by confirming its participation at the PDM show (Telford, 12 – 14 Apr 2005).

In hall 1, stand J15, Piovan will display equipment in representation of its four main areas of business:

The PDM show is the occasion for Piovan to launch into the English market its latest innovations and technical developments. The display will focus on the following equipment:

- feeding system with F48-CF1 vacuum unit and C2 and C3 vacuum receivers
- MDW 20 gravimetric blender complete with S40 single phase loader
- MDP volumetric masterbatch dosing unit

Tanis, nouveau major des pièces intérieures

Interesting issue on the Piovan partnership with the automotive producer Tanis: the recently installed Piovan ancillaries allowed to keep at the top technological avangarde the plant committed to supply several internal car parts to Renault and PSA Group.

Franco-Spanish automotive equipment supplier Tanis had its best year ever in 2004, with the plant at the Actipole business park - opened in summer 2003 - producing 14,900,000 injection-molded parts, mainly door panels and floor pans. New jobs passed the 300 mark, driven by a steady stream of orders for Renault's top-selling ScÃ©nic. Tanis hopes to consolidate its position in 2005 with sales to equip Peugeot's 1007, the successor to the 1006. It will also produce dome-lamp housings for the G9 van, to be assembled at Sevelnord as of 2006.

Through the Cooling Centre, Piovan created an internal Refrigeration Department, where specific know-how and skills in the field of industrial refrigeration have recently been dedicated to engineering the most ambitious projects.

The decades of experience acquired in the design and production of auxiliary equipment for the plastic processing industry has led Piovan to respond with increasing continuity to its customers’ needs, both through the supply of single machines and by offering its engineering expertise, as well as through the design and installation of complete plants, very often with a high degree of complexity.

This situation has been consolidated not only in terms of equipment for the treatment of granules, but also in relation to so-called ‘service’ equipment and systems, increasingly essential for ensuring the high quality standards of the products required by the market.

In particular, Piovan can offer its customers first-rate technical design skills in the field of industrial refrigeration that, combined with its deep and solid knowledge of the plastic processing industry, make the company the ideal partner for assisting the customer in defining the most suitable and efficient plant solutions.

All this is backed up by a manufacturing department entirely dedicated to chillers, and specialising in the construction of the systems designed by the Piovan technical department.

New MXP500 dosers

The new Piovan's ancillary machine has been launched at the last K Exhibition and is already meeting a strong success in the extrusion market: the new MXP500 dosing unit combines a gravimetric batch preparation with a subsequent loss-in-weight function.

Designed for application on extrusion lines, the MXP500 dosing units are perfectly suited for the production of blown films, pipes and profiles.

The high accuracy and repeatability of the gravimetric batch preparation, that allows a wide variety of granule sizes and bulk densities, is then coupled with a perfect mixing action that homogenises the blend to be fed into the extruder..

The very detailed and specific design of the MXP500 allows quick and simple maintenance and cleaning, while a drain port allows rapid emptying procedures and material change.

The mixer unit is furnished with a wide inspection door to access mixing chamber and shaft, both removable for inspection or cleaning.

One single control box (installed on board of the MXP500 dosing unit) is equipped with an extremely powerful micro processor control that manages any and every function of the blender, collects field inputs and provides feed back data. The main functions of the MXP control are:

set up and database of recipes
gravimetric and loss-in-weight control
extruder speed signal
nip rolls signal
film thickness and width signal
management of material consumption for each dosing station
management of material consumption for the extrusion line
alarms management

The control boasts the ultimate technology in terms of operator interface: one 8.4-inch colour touch screen guarantees excellent graphic visualisation of the dosing unit, the extrusion line, the material consumption data and the alarm/warning messages. One interface panel can visualise and allow operator interaction to five MXP units and five extrusion machines.

Along with the extruder speed and the nip rolls signals, the MXP control features two unique functions, the thickness and the width signal management that make this product absolutely competitive in the ancillaries market.

The MXP is the perfect innovative solution for gravimetric blending and loss-in-weight process control that Piovan launched in the extrusion field.

Piovan at China Dongguan Int'l Exhibition 2004

Piovan affirms once more its position amongst the most important international players in the plastics industry at the 6th edition of the China Dongguan International Exhibition (10-13 November - HALL E, STAND IP38 ).

The event is the best opportunity to introduce and launch the new manufacturing site of Piovan, located in Zhuhai.

In a market characterized by the highest growth rate in the world, where demand for technology is a must, Piovan sets up its first facility, namely "Piovan China Manufacturing Centre", to respond to the evident needs of most local plastics processors.

The location of Zhuhai was strategically picked with the objective of being in the most vivid and hectic province of China, where the concentration of processors is remarkable.

The 5000m² of the Piovan Zhuhai Manufacturing Centre will allow a high volume of production that will primarily be distributed in the Chinese territory and within the Asian Continent.

The exhibition will be the occasion to put on display the equipment that characterize the four areas of business of Piovan: Injection and Blow Moulding, Extrusion, PET Preforms and Optical Disc. Those will be represented in detail by the following equipment:

Drying system with multiple hopper assembly (DS615-T200-T100-T50)

The exhibition will also be the opportunity for Piovan to introduce two brand new units: the MDP master-batch doser and the CDP drying and conveying unit for optical disk applications.

The MDP was specifically developed for all those applications requiring a very high level of precision of master-batch dosage.The unit is completely made out of stainless steel and is equipped with a built-in microprocessor control.

The CDP is the new user-friendly optical disk system that will allow simplicity of installation, quick understanding of operation and ease of maintenance.

2004: Piovan China Manufacturing Center is born

Following in the footsteps of Marco Polo, the Venetian Piovan S.p.A. is opening a production site at Zhuhai, China in 2004.

Piovan’s new production site will be called Piovan China Manufacturing Centre and will be based at Zhuhai with the objective of becoming the main reference point for plastic material transformers in the entire Chinese market. The industrial center of Zhuhai, situated to the south of the Guangdong Province, was chosen for its position, considered strategic for trade across all the Chinese provinces.

Piovan’s Chinese production start date is planned for the end of 2004, in an area of 5000 m². The auxiliaries of the line to be produced will be three-phase hopper loaders, single and two-tower dryers with airflow up to 200m3/h and compact mould temperature controllers, models TW 6 and TO 6, machinery that is very much in demand in China. Piovan’s made in China range is set to expand over the course of time on the basis of rise in the technological level of demand from the already thriving local plastic industry.

For a European company with an international flavour such as Piovan S.p.A., being present in the People’s Republic of China is not only a great opportunity but also a necessary route to take in order to be able to continue to sustain its growth. The plan consists in a true and proper evolutionary stage of Piovan’s already established presence in Asia. The start of the Mexican experience

Ciudad del Mexico is the latest stage, in terms of time, of the continuous expansion abroad of our company. Last March, in the Mexican capital where the major companies of the country are present, Piovan opened a direct sales affiliate: Piovan Mexico.
The company’s economic commitment in the Mexican market is determined first of all by the willingness to make the Piovan the best–known name in the different business sectors – injection moulding, blow moulding, extrusion – and to increase its penetration in the field of PET systems and Optical Disc systems. In the niche sectors of PET and Optical Disc, many Mexican Customers already consider our company one of the main reference points. It is in these specific markets, in fact, that most of more than 100 installations carried out in the last two years are placed.
In this complex and competitive panorama, Piovan aims to be recognised as one-stop supplier, that is to say manufacturer of the complete range of auxiliary equipment for all the plastic treatment processes and a reliable partner with skills in the specific business areas.
The Piovan Mexico branch is the starting point to further strengthen the penetration into this market, which comes out to be amongst the first ten markets in the plastics field in the world.
For the current year the Mexican plastics processing industry seems to be very satisfactory. There are in fact interesting prospects of a restart of investments, with a trend of growth, which could overcome even percentages of around 10% compared to year 2003.

Piovan leading an important project

In the new industrial pole of Cambrai, the company Tanis – a joint venture between the French group Treves and the Spanish group Antolin – invested almost 29 million euros. On a wide area of 80,000 square metres, a modern 22,000 m2 building was created, dedicated to plastic components injection moulding. The company manufactures coatings for automobiles, such as doors, dashboards, interior roofs, covering panels for floors etc for important automotive companies, primarily for the French Renault. The Piovan project developed for Tanis can be summed up in a single key word: flexibility. Flexible is, in fact, the whole management of the system and of materials.
Started up in the middle of 2003, the Tanis injection moulding department includes at present 21 injection moulding machines of various dimensions, ranging from 800 up to a maximum of 2,000 tonnes. The production area, which in the future will host 25 IMMs in total, is destined exclusively for the primary machines. The ancillary equipment dedicated to materials preparation and treatment, however, is present in a separate room, in order to allow for management that is independent from the main process and to allow more simple interventions by the operator. In this operative centre all operations of transport and material distribution, of hot drying of some polymers and dosing and blending of the different typologies of granules are carried out.
Once again Piovan did not have the simple role of supplier, but rather that of partner able to follow the Customer in the development of more adequate plant solutions and to share with him experiences and skills in the treatment of plastic materials. By taking choices which went hand in hand with the architectural structures already in place and with a distribution logic already partially established, Piovan has realised a customised system for the Customer, open to future developments.
