For Piovan social responsibility means an everyday commitment that is tangibly expressed through a number of initiatives in support of the the communities and the environment wherever it operates.
We manage our business according to social and ethical principles as well as environmentally sustainable behavior.
Piovan demonstrates its commitment to the environment by developing energy-saving technologies and recycling plastic materials. Within the company, it has specific programs in place to reduce waste and energy consumption.
Some data about our systems performance and the environmental impact of our actions:
• With more than 400 Genesys and 150 PETchillers in operation, Piovan is contributing to a reduction of CO2 emissions in excess of 200,000 ton per year.
• All our products and systems are designed to optimize the use of energy sources: the latest generation of dehumidifiers and temperature controllers achieve notable energy savings, dosers that do not require set-up and testing and therefore reduce granulate wastage, refrigerators with free cooler systems exploit natural air temperatures, recycling systems for putting production waste back into the production cycle, supervision software for monitoring and optimizing consumption of both energy and materials.
Piovan supports charitable projects primarily in the field of child malnutrition, education and health. It has been a ‘Company without Borders (ASF)’ since 2010.
Being a Company without Borders is an ongoing commitment. It doesn’t mean just making a donation, but taking the responsibility for providing long term support to an organization such as Doctors Without Borders that works daily to save hundreds of thousands of lives.
Piovan is also involved in a range of other initiatives, both in Italy and abroad, collaborating with other non-profit organisations such as Amizero, which works in Rwanda supporting women and children, and Padova Ospitale, with which it has set up the San Pio da Pietrelcina social and health care centre on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, which is dedicated to Mrs Valeria Piovan.
Piovan supports the building of a school for children aged three to six years old in the small village of Yeror, in Ethopia’s Guaraghe region.
Yeror is a rural area, not easily accessed, over 120 miles from Addis Abeba and is part of the Ethiopian Catholic Eparchy of Emdeber.
Construction on the children’s school began in January 2015, driven by an initiative of the Duemonti Abano Sports Group, working in conjunction with the diocese of the Eparchy of Emdeber.
At Piovan everyone loves sport, especially if it improves team spirit, concentration and healthy competition.
This is why the company is happy to support several initiatives such as those described below.
Glenfield Rovers AFC is a suburban football club situated on the North Shore of Auckland in New Zealand. The club itself was formed in 1960 and the first players were engineers from the local Chelsea Sugar refinery. Nowadays the club has several teams and players aged 4 to 69 years.
